    on centos, to register a service (take redis-server as an example):

    chmod u+x redis-server
    mv redis-server /etc/init.d
    /sbin/chkconfig –add redis-server
    /sbin/chkconfig –level 345 redis-server on
    /sbin/service redis-server start
